You can call a resident or visit the residency website  of the respective hospital and read about the programme.
Interviews could be held in the morning or evening and is done in a relaxed manner.
Some hospitals do contuct pre interview dinners where you can discuss a lot about the programme.
Interviews questions asked are mainly straight forward here. If you are an IMG be prepared with your ERAS application form, remember what you wrote and what were your career plans.

Important issues like Visa, your family are frequently discussed as well. You may be asked about your previous experience, hobbies, your electives and achievements.

Some hospitals conduct short tests before your interviews while other hospitals give you clinical scenarios to discuss. Interviews are usually done by 2-3 members of the faculty and you are taken for a tour around the hospital and encouraged to attend for the morning teaching rounds, afternoon conference etc. You are encouraged to discuss about the call schedule, teaching activities, work atmosphere etc.

Some hospitals do encourage you to come for pre and post interview visits as well. For Pre and Post interview visits you could dress up normally with a labcoat/apron
  • Why are you interested in internal medicine?
  • What speciality you wish to do ?
  • Tell us about yourself ?
  • Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
  • What attracted you to our program?
  • Do you know any one who has trained here ?
  • Tell me about your research? (know details. i.e. data analysis, etc.)
  • What has been your greatest acomplishment?
  • What is your greatest strength?
  • What do you see as your biggest weakness?
  • Why should we pick you?
  • Do you have any questions? (Most common question!!! Have plenty of questions prepared. Well thought out. Nothing that you could learn by just looking at their website)
  • Some hospitals tend to ask if you have any more interviews or not ?

You can also inform the programme that you are interested in prematch offers if any and what your further plans are if questioned

After the interviews some programme directors may give their email ID and phone number and you can write a thank you email to the faculty and programme coordinator.
